Our favorite radio station 89.3 The Current celebrated its 5th birthday at First Avenue, with performances by The Twilight Hours, Lookbook, Mason Jennings, P.O.S (my favorite of the night), and Solid Gold, and appearances by RT Ryback and Chris Coleman. Prince was also in attendance for a short time, looking down upon his subjects from the security of the owners glass cage upstairs to show his support for The Current and music in Minneapolis.

Ladies Night at Lee’s!

Ladies Night at Lee’s Liquor Lounge featuring Eliza Blue, Molly Maher and Her Disbelievers, Jen Markey and the Tennesee Snowpants, Dana Thompson, Ashleigh Still and the Dirty Dishes, Sweet Mamma J, and Alicia Corbett.

It was another great night of music in Minneapolis. We have a great deal of talented women in this city, and I am so fortunate to count so many of them as friends. All the ladies played great sets. If I were more articulate I could describe the experience in better detail…but I’m not, so I take pictures.

Eliza will be releasing a new album with a show at the Cedar on March 26th- GO! I know it will be amazing. More info is available on her myspace page. Jen Markey just released her new cd last Saturday at the Turf Club…what a fun night. If you don’t already have it, you can purchase her cd on CD Baby. Jen is the one that put together this show and she really did a great job. I’m looking forward to the next one. You can (and should) catch Molly Maher and Her Disbelievers at Nye’s every Wednesday. It was a balmy 5 degrees F and the wind was blowing, so naturally we hopped in the car and drove up to Stoney Point to catch some waves. We checked out the surf just outside of downtown Duluth and it looked a little small but we kept our hopes up for Stoney. We pulled up to Stoney Point and well, it was still small. There were a couple of guys out already and after watching for a while it was clear that today would be a waiting game. Whatever! After a three hour drive we weren’t going to just turn around, so the guys went out anyway. It was worth a shot! The conditions did improve and the boys were able to score quite a few decent rides. I was able to capture some good shots, only fell twice, and didn’t break anything. An awesome day!
